Halloween: The Game optional challenges
Official copy says each chapter contains secondary challenges and collectibles that can unlock lore, executions, scenarios and multiplayer cosmetics. They are not the story handoff.
Chapter titles below are reported by English walkthroughs and commonly shown in story mode. IllFonic's official story post says players guide Michael across six chapters, but it does not print this full title list. Sources: official story reveal · Whisper of the House · Into Indie Games · TPose Gaming.

How to use this page
- Finish the chapter once with the HUD. Then replay that same stage for the conditions below.
- Several challenges conflict with each other (full-clear vs no-alert; film-plot timing vs a fast kill).
- Exact reward tables are not published here. Official copy only promises lore, executions, scenarios and cosmetics — not perk numbers.
Official replay framing: Unleash Hell Upon Haddonfield. Challenge names condensed from Into Indie Games challenge guide · Whisper Main Street · Whisper Babysitters.
Prologue: Escape From Smith's Grove
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: When the HUD becomes lowering or opening gates, prioritize the exit over clearing every orderly.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Terrify an orderly until they flee | Reported by Into Indie Games as a grab-and-hold scare, not a required kill. |
| Grab and execute three orderlies | Optional count. Conflicts with a no-alert run. |
| Telephone-pole execution | IIG places the pole to the right of the power box. |
| Throw an orderly from the railing | IIG places railings to the left of the power box. |
| Complete without alerting orderlies | Stealth condition. Conflicts with a full-clear run. |
| Kill or drive away every orderly before escaping | Full-clear condition. First-clear guides say to skip this once the gate objective appears. |
Chapter 1: The Road To Haddonfield
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: Rabbit in Red is the anchor. Do not map-wide chase people who are not the current HUD target.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Kill everyone inside the Rabbit in Red | IIG says this includes two residents who stay in the bar after the biker cutscene. |
| Shove a biker off balance | Uses the shove mechanic. Optional vs the HUD chase. |
| Kill a target with a broken pool cue | IIG places broken cues inside the bar. |
| Context execution on a biker | IIG says this can be done on the opening pair before entering the lounge. |
| Thrown-cleaver kill | IIG places a cleaver in the Rabbit in Red kitchen. |
| Kill three residents | Requires leaving the required sequence. First-clear advice is to defer it. |
Chapter 2: Main Street
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: Prefer named special targets over every skull marker. The cemetery / grave sequence ends the chapter.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Execute Tanya at the cash register | Named by Whisper of the House and Into Indie Games. Optional vs just eliminating the special target. |
| Environmental execution on Rachel | Both hubs place this in the cemetery sequence. |
| Grab and execute Slab during the peeing animation | Timing window after the cemetery split. Easy to miss if you rush Rachel. |
| Eric shelf kill in the hardware-store stockroom | Conflicts with a fastest-kill-Eric first clear if you already moved on. |
| Kill all three of Rachel's friends | Requires watching the group split before committing to Rachel. |
| Complete the chapter without alerting anyone | Stealth condition. Conflicts with noisy challenge kills. |
Chapter 3: Returning Home
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: Myers house childhood sequence before any neighborhood sweep. Leave when the escape objective appears.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Jennifer at the campfire | Named optional execution. Not required for the escape objective. |
| Thomas at the weight bench | IIG ties this to a garage / special-target beat after the house sequence. |
| Marcus motorcycle execution | Wait for the reported bike beat rather than rushing the house. |
| Gloria and Keith | Paired optional targets near the Thomas / Marcus houses. |
| Three wood-axe kills | IIG says pick up the wood axe in the Myers house after the childhood sequence. |
| Kill every neighborhood resident | Full-clear condition. First-clear guides say to leave when escape appears. |
Third-party conflict: Into Indie Games' chapter walkthrough and its later all-challenges page swap the numbering of the wood-axe and Gloria / Keith challenges. The names are listed here without relying on that number order.
Chapter 4: The Babysitters
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: Do not interrupt the Annie / Bob / Lynda / Laurie order early. The Wallace House is the chapter anchor.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Strangle Annie in the car | Requires waiting through her routine. Interrupting her early can miss the window. |
| Pin Bob to the kitchen wall | Whisper of the House: the kitchen wall interaction, not merely a kill inside the kitchen. |
| Kill Lynda with the telephone while wearing the Sheet | Sheet becomes available after Bob in both English hubs. |
| Bloodthirsty execution | Spend it on someone who is not holding a scripted job, per Whisper of the House. |
| Fully stalk Bob and Lynda during the living-room scene | IIG suggests the living-room closet if standing in the open breaks the stalk. |
| Complete the chapter matching the 1978 plot | Timing-heavy optional route. Do not treat it as the first-clear path. |
Chapter 5: Into The Shadows
First-clear walkthrough · Main route: Rebuild to Tier 3 / Shape Jump. Avoid dense police while weak. Take a usable exit when offered.
| Reported optional challenge | Why it is not the first-clear path |
|---|---|
| Disable two cop flashlights at once with Blackout | Optional. First-clear guides still recommend rebuilding before fighting dense police. |
| Pitchfork execution on a cop | IIG reports a pitchfork near the spawn / first house; treat the exact prop spot as a third-party report. |
| Take down at least three residents before escaping | Conflicts with taking the first usable exit. |
| Fully stalk police inside the Wallace House | Optional return to a story landmark. IIG notes you may need to lure an officer in. |
| Escape without Loomis detecting you | IIG reports this condition as easy to fail even when Loomis never sees Michael; treat the trigger as unverified beyond the name. |
| Destroy a police car before escaping | IIG: melee the car until it smokes; the completion toast may appear only after the escape. |
Challenges FAQ
Are story challenges required to finish a chapter?
No. Official copy presents secondary challenges as extra replay goals that can unlock lore, executions, scenarios and cosmetics. English walkthroughs mark them optional versus the HUD route.
How many challenges does each chapter have?
Into Indie Games reports six challenges on each of the six story stages. That count is a third-party report, not an official IllFonic table.
Should I attempt the film-plot challenge on a first Chapter 4 clear?
No. Whisper of the House and Into Indie Games both treat matching the 1978 plot as a separate, timing-heavy challenge. First-clear advice is to stay with the Wallace House HUD chain.
