Chapter 1: The Road To Haddonfield walkthrough
First-clear route for this reported story-mode stage. Follow the required HUD objective. Optional challenges and extra kills are replay work.
Chapter titles below are reported by English walkthroughs and commonly shown in story mode. IllFonic's official story post says players guide Michael across six chapters, but it does not print this full title list. Reported title: Chapter 1 — The Road To Haddonfield
Broad area: Road toward Haddonfield; Rabbit in Red Lounge (official East Haddonfield landmark)
First-clear signal: Rabbit in Red is the anchor. Do not map-wide chase people who are not the current HUD target.
Required HUD order
- Deal with the opening bikers outside, then enter the Rabbit in Red. Official East Haddonfield copy names the lounge as a landmark on this road.
- Inside, IIG describes bikers plus a bartender. Finish the required fight until the next cutscene — you do not need a 100% bar clear for the story.
- Chase the final biker only after the HUD says so. Whisper of the House: if a flee-er is not the required target, let them go.
- After that chase, IIG shows two objectives: Explore the Area (optional) and Track Down and Kill the Mechanic (story close).
- Follow the marked mechanic. IIG: a noise ping / question mark marks the person. Approaching them ends the chapter.
Route: Into Indie Games Chapter 1 · Whisper of the House first-clear notes. Rabbit in Red is also named on the official locations post.
Items & interactions (sourced)
- Broken Pool Cue / thrown cleaver. IIG lists these as Chapter 1 challenge weapons (cleaver in the Rabbit in Red kitchen). Optional on a first clear.
- Context wall slam. IIG notes an early biker wall execution outside the bar as a challenge window before you even enter.
- Mechanic track. Story close is the marked mechanic after Explore the Area stays optional (IIG).

Common time sink
The parking lot and roadside give NPCs room to scatter. Whisper of the House says this is where first clears balloon: chasing someone who no longer matters, or re-sweeping the lounge after the HUD has already moved on.
IIG also notes that some bar-only challenges lock when you leave. That is a reason to replay the chapter later, not to stall the mechanic objective now. Continue in Chapter 2: Main Street.

Optional vs required
Official copy says each chapter has secondary challenges and collectibles. They are not the story handoff. Open the optional challenges page only when you are replaying this stage.
This chapter FAQ
Is exploring after the Rabbit in Red required?
Into Indie Games marks Explore the Area as optional and treats tracking the mechanic as the story close. Whisper of the House says to leave with the HUD once the bar sequence advances.
Should I chase every fleeing biker or resident?
Only if the HUD made that person the next required target. First-clear guides treat parking-lot chases as a common time sink.
