Combat, ammo and weak points
Frogwares' official advice if combat feels unfair: lower the difficulty, shoot focused weak points, and skip fights you cannot afford. Many encounters are optional. Retreat, loot, then come back equipped.

Ammo is scarce on purpose
The Sinking City 2 is built around short magazines and tight inventory, not arena clearing. If you are emptying a gun into every corpse on the street, the next elite will leave you dry. Official Steam FAQ answers for "Combat is too hard / I don't have enough ammo":
- Drop Combat difficulty. Investigation difficulty is separate.
- Aim until the shot is focused, then shoot the glowing weak points — not the torso.
- Walk around packs when you are low. Finish the objective, then return with better guns and healing.
Recommended first-run pairings are on the difficulty settings page. Story combat includes an invincibility toggle if you are here for the investigations.
Moves the tutorial under-explains
- Stomp downed bodies. Slither worms re-possess corpses you leave intact. Stomp is bound to Ctrl / the lower mouse side button by default (Steam FAQ). It also works on breakables when melee does not.
- Do not chase everything. Some ambushers flee toward friends. Some hospital threats cannot be killed — damage only banishes them briefly.
- Night Ore recharges Night Shade, a one-off revive after a fatal blow. Keep Ore in the stash until you need it rather than occupying a combat slot all chapter.
- Save before arenas. Gramophones are placed in front of major fights. There is no penalty for saving often.
Make later fights cheaper
- Optional investigations pay in attachments, Essence and inventory space. Skipping them makes Chapter 4–5 noticeably harder — all 8 cases.
- Connect every evidence pair. Each correct link is Dream Essence for talents. First picks: talents guide.
- Grab both upgrades for the gun you actually carry. The Minuteman and grenade launcher parts hide behind codes: 1308, buoy locker, 1496, Salt Storage.
Boss-specific tactics (Shoggoth eyes, Slither Prime, Holloway Manor) stay on the boss guide. First-night habits: playthrough tips.
